Thought about replying you on chat, but here public so it is better for transparency.
Question about vote selling, vote buying, self voting, vote trading always comes up with regards to Points, I hope this will help clarifying some aspects the way I see it.
RC delegation was not a thing when Points system was designed, yes we can consider changing to that...
Selling votes refers to profiting from votes and guarantees the vote, right? All curation reward is daily sent back to delegators and there is no guarantee of curation. https://ecency.com/faq#how-boosting-work
Self voting/vote trading, where you see that happening, everywhere? Yes, people boost their own (friend, family) post but people also share their own post inside discord channels in hopes to get votes/boosts, share their own post on twitter to get posh tokens and points. All in hopes to get something (reward, engagement, attention) in return. But that return is guaranteed or not that's the question, which it is not, content is curated by volunteer curators independently when it comes to our curation.
Points doesn't have any value just like any token on market doesn't have, in itself (unless people put value into it), Points are centralized and all we did was, to add gamification and see what things will trigger people to stay engaged more, stay on platform more, stay on Hive more. You want to know more about Ecency curation efforts join our discord and I can gladly assign you curator role so you can see how it all works, we have monthly guest curator selection where anyone can join and learn about curation on Hive/Ecency.
This is example of what curators see, they can see who is asking for boost, how much points used, what app used for publishing, if content has some AI content in it or not, etc. They can then open content and evaluate more before curating. I have huge respect to curators and guest curators for their tireless efforts to grow ecosystem and help people engage, learn, improve on platform.
