What A Fine Day to Go Island Hopping | Wang-Wang Island, Bantayan

I've been AFK for the past few days because of a trip to Eastern Samar. It was so much fun! Think of Pacific Ocean waves, surfing, rock formations, and historic islands. Right after returning from my trip, I was immediately neck-deep in the work I needed to do for my thesis. Thankfully, I'm done with it and I've found some time to sit down and catch up on my blogging.

My wonderful friend @glecerioberto often writes great articles about the wonderful natural environment and travels of the Philippines.
So, I often enjoy his wonderful photos and articles.

However, I suddenly had a different thought.
Perhaps @glecerioberto is a successful Filipino who is economical enough to travel often. So, what is life like for the majority of Filipinos?

There are many Filipino workers in East Asia where I currently live. Their life I saw was very different from @glecerioberto.
They are doing very hard and dangerous manual labor to send money to their families in the Philippines.

Odette Isn't Beautiful: Super-typhoon ravage our homes

Last Thursday, December 16, 2021, our homes were devastated by a super typhoon Odette (internationally known as Typhoon Rai), which has similar gustiness and wind to a Category 5 hurricane. It hits the southern and central parts of the Philippines. Six days after, we still don’t have electricity, water, and the internet is unstable (most of the time, none). Although the typhoon tore our roofs and walls, we are lucky that there was no casualty or injury in our neighborhood.

I was able to see the shadow of the Philippines while reading articles by my friend @juecoree.
@juecoree is a Filipino computer programmer and the first Asian friend I met at Hive. I made friends with Americans, Australians, Nigerians and Europeans on Steemit and Hive, but @juecoree was my first Asian friend.

Most Filipinos in Hive tend to write articles about the beautiful nature, delicious food, and tourism of the Philippines.
However, @juecoree used to expose the dark side of the Philippines.

@juecoree showed the common people in the Philippines suffering from the typhoon.
I could see the Filipinos suffering from the natural disasters of typhoons, earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions.😯

Hive's Filipinos usually act as guides for Filipino tourism, while @juecoree seems like a philosopher.😦

I remember well the Filipino migrant workers. They are doing hard and dangerous work abroad.

Their facial expressions were similar to those of that Filipino boy.
So, @juecoree's articles came to me as a special memory!
Perhaps @juecoree was more concerned with sadness and pain than Filipino laughter.
I agree with @juecoree's point of view because I remember that there are more poor and suffering people in the world than rich people.

A few years ago, news like this appeared on TV in the world I live in.
A factory fire killed Filipino migrant workers.😧
One of them, a Filipino man, had a wife and family in the Philippines. He was sending money to his family in the Philippines, but he died in a fire. His wife was talking on the phone from the Philippines.
Please help me. Help.😨😰

After her husband's death abroad, the Filipino woman cried on a foreign TV station and cried for help!

I still remember the cry of that Filipino woman.😔

I guessed that there is a huge gap between the rich and the poor because the Philippines is dependent on the tourism industry.
There are far more poor people than happy rich people in the world!

Fianally, I felt that @asasiklause's expression seemed to reveal the suffering life of Filipino workers!

So, I like this look of @asasiklause the most!
