Yesterday night, after my team, Arsenal, lost the Carabao Cup final to Manchester City in a 2-0 defeat. An argument started in a group of friends that I belong to, but I kept quiet. Meanwhile, I was feeling the heat inside of me because everything was loud.

I wanted to say a lot of things about my team to defend us, but I was just reading the group's heated argument at intervals because before I later saw that the people arguing were Chelsea and Manchester United fans. So I just left them because my presence or making the mistake of dropping any comment can turn the argument into a long one, which I was avoiding.

So, at that moment, I learned to be composed and keep it all to myself by staying quiet even though I had a lot of things playing in my head.

What I did wasn't really healthy anyway because it was just football banter between my guys. I know words can hurt some people at the same time; hence the reason why I kept quiet because often times, it's either silence that breaks people or it protects us, and that is the balance I am trying to learn. Not everything needs a reaction or response.
