Taking a stroll through my garden yesterday I realized how quick the plants I put in for the fall planting season were popping up.
While I normally can't tolerate the heat of the south, it is times like these (gardening season) that I wish I had a longer growing season. I live in Michigan and am in the USDA Hardiness Zone of 6a; meaning I am limited on the harvest most of the time. So I have to make the best of the time I have to plant, grow and harvest.
Potatoes planted about one week ago- already coming up and need to be covered with dirt again
Onion sets- perfection!
Peppers- this is a pepperoncini, but I also have habanero, cayenne and japapeno planted this year
Sunflowers- my grandma always taught me "plant when the kids get out of school and you'll have them when the kids return to school
In the back behind the sunflowers are my two wild lettuce plants- testing out the internet viral articles about this being the homegrown comparison to pain medication; I suffer from Meniere's Disease and have tremendous vertigo and discomfort and nausea- will update with another post when I test it out later this year
