Despu茅s de una larga semana de vacaciones en mi blog, hoy les comparto mi odisea de ayer al ir a hacer las compras mensuales del hogar. Salir estos 煤ltimos d铆as ha sido mucho m谩s complicado de lo normal porque hace mucho calor, de verdad, el sol ha brillado como nunca y no hay ni una playa cerca que permita verle el lado positivo a tanto calor. Pero, lamentablemente, nos toca ir en busca de provisiones porque, si no, nos toca elegir entre morir de calor o de hambre 馃槄.
After a long week of vacation on my blog, today I share with you my odyssey yesterday when I went to do the monthly household shopping. Going out these last few days has been much more complicated than usual because it is really hot, the sun has been shining like never before and there is not even a beach nearby to see the positive side of such heat. But, unfortunately, we have to go in search of provisions because, if not, we have to choose between dying of heat or starvation 馃槄.
Lo m谩s gracioso es que justo me provoc贸 vestir de negro entero, me dio por elegir un outfit total black, como para absorber el calor lo m谩ximo posible; a nadie m谩s que a m铆 se le ocurre algo as铆. Pero bueno, creo que me quedaba bien, as铆 que apliqu茅 el refr谩n: 芦La belleza cuesta禄, y al sol le toc贸 soportar, ni modo...
The funniest thing is that I just happened to wear all black, I decided to choose a total black outfit, as if to absorb the heat as much as possible; nobody else but me could think of something like that. But well, I think it looked good on me, so I applied the saying: "Beauty costs money", and the sun had to bear it, no way...
Lo 煤nico que me mantuvo en pie fue el hecho de saber que nos tocaba almorzar fuera de casa, y eso significa comer un delicioso arroz chino que se vende en el centro y que es bueno, bonito y barato. Creo que hac铆a m谩s de un mes que no lo prob谩bamos. Lo malo es que no estaba tan rico como lo recordaba y eso siempre me da un baj贸n, pero el pollo estaba delicioso, as铆 que compens贸.
The only thing that kept me going was the fact that we were having lunch out, and that means eating a delicious Chinese rice that is sold downtown and is good, nice and cheap. I think it had been more than a month since we had tried it. The bad thing is that it wasn't as tasty as I remembered it and that always gives me a downer, but the chicken was delicious, so it made up for it.
Cuando llegamos al supermercado, tuvimos que esperar a mi hermana, ya que tambi茅n ten铆a que hacer algunas compras y as铆 no ir铆a sola despu茅s. Hacer la compra para m铆 es una combinaci贸n de placer y sufrimiento, porque me encanta la sensaci贸n de elegir todas las cosas que me gustan, pero odio ver c贸mo cada d铆a es m谩s caro comprar alimentos, as铆 que tengo una especie de relaci贸n amor/odio 馃.
When we got to the supermarket, we had to wait for my sister, as she also had to do some shopping and so she wouldn't go alone afterwards. Shopping for me is a combination of pleasure and suffering, because I love the feeling of choosing all the things I like, but I hate to see how every day it is more expensive to buy food, so I have a kind of love/hate relationship 馃.
Mi parte favorita del supermercado es la secci贸n de frutas y verduras. De hecho, si fuera por m铆, comprar铆a todo al por mayor, porque siento que se me acaban r谩pido, pero mi billetera me dice que debo controlarme y ser selectiva, ja, ja, ja. Tambi茅n me encanta la estaci贸n de batidos, porque puedes elegir tres frutas de tu preferencia para que te preparen una bebida deliciosa y refrescante. Esta vez escog铆 la siguiente combinaci贸n: Patilla, manzana y uva.
My favorite part of the supermarket is the fruit and vegetable section. In fact, if it were up to me, I would buy everything in bulk, because I feel like I run out fast, but my wallet tells me I have to control myself and be selective, ha, ha, ha, ha. I also love the smoothie station, because you can choose three fruits of your choice to have them make you a delicious and refreshing drink. This time I chose the following combination: watermelon, apple and grape.
Y as铆, tras dar vueltas y vueltas por el supermercado durante dos horas, cumplimos con nuestro objetivo de comprar todo lo necesario para sobrevivir un mes m谩s. Siempre estoy agradecida a Dios por darnos la oportunidad de cubrir nuestros gastos, por protegernos en el camino y permitirnos llegar sanos y salvos a casa.
And so, after going around and around the supermarket for two hours, we accomplished our goal of buying everything we needed to survive another month. I am forever grateful to God for giving us the opportunity to cover our expenses, for protecting us along the way and allowing us to arrive home safe and sound.
