Las pel铆culas de suspenso psicol贸gico siguen sin ser de mi tipo, aunque en ocasiones el mensaje valga la pena, hay directores que dejan volar demasiado su imaginaci贸n, creando una historia que puede rayar hasta en la locura. Este es el caso de la pel铆cula "Men" de Alex Garland, cuya trama me explot贸 la cabeza al tratar de descifrar semejante historia.
Normalmente cuando veo este tipo de pel铆culas es porque alguien la recomend贸 antes o le铆 la trama y me llam贸 la atenci贸n, pero en esta oportunidad, mi esposo y yo la encontramos por casualidad para descargar y nos dimos el chance de verla. |
Psychological suspense movies are still not my type, although sometimes the message is worth it, there are directors who let their imagination fly too much, creating a story that can border on madness. This is the case of the movie "Men" by Alex Garland, whose plot exploded my head trying to decipher such a story.
Normally when I see this kind of movies it's because someone recommended it before or I read the plot and it caught my attention, but this time, my husband and I found it by chance to download it and we took the chance to see it. |

La historia comienza con una mujer que presencia el suicidio de un hombre, que luego nos aclara era su marido, y debido a esta situaci贸n traum谩tica decide pasar una semana en las afueras de la ciudad, en una campi帽a brit谩nica.
Algo que me atrap贸 de este film, fu茅 la fotograf铆a y banda sonora, de verdad los paisajes son de otro nivel, y el estilo de m煤sica escogida, iba perfectamente de la mano con cada escenario. Creo que es lo que m谩s puedo rescatar de todo. |
The story begins with a woman who witnesses the suicide of a man, who later clarifies that it was her husband, and due to this traumatic situation they decide to spend a week on the outskirts of the city, in a British countryside. Something that caught me from this film was the photography and soundtrack, the landscapes really are on another level, and the style of music chosen went perfectly hand in hand with each setting. I think that is what I can most rescue of all. |

| A lo largo de la historia vamos conociendo a lo que ser铆an los personajes masculinos, pero que en realidad, son interpretados por el mismo actor. Comenzamos por el hombre que le alquil贸 la caba帽a, alguien con una peculiar personalidad, pero nada que encienda alguna alarma. | Throughout the story we meet what would be the male characters, but in reality, they are played by the same actor. We start with the man who rented him the cabin, someone with a peculiar personality, but nothing that raises any alarm bells. |

| Seguidamente hace su entrada un hombre al que considero "El loco del bosque", porque est谩 totalmente desnudo, con un aspecto bastante aterrador y mudo(al parecer) porque no pronuncia ni una palabra. Y con todo y lo extra帽o que pueda parecer, no es el personaje m谩s bizarro de la historia 馃槄 | Next, a man who I consider "The Madman of the Forest" makes his entrance, because he is totally naked, quite scary looking and mute (apparently) because he doesn't utter a word. And as strange as it may seem, he is not the most bizarre character in the story 馃槄 |
| Luego, nos encontramos con el "cura pervertido", una clara referencia al estigma que tienen los curas de la iglesia cat贸lica. Fu茅 uno de mis personajes favoritos, porque aunque era misma actor anterior, esta personalidad era desquiciada, te transmit铆a la escencia retorcida del mismo. | Then, we meet the "perverted priest", a clear reference to the stigma that the priests of the catholic church have. He was one of my favorite characters, because even though he was the same actor as before, his personality was unhinged, transmitting the twisted essence of the character. |

Lleg贸 el momento de conocer al m谩s raro de todos, pero en t茅rminos visuales, porque era el mismo actor en el cuerpo de un ni帽o, una locura 馃き El hecho es que ser谩 el ni帽o m谩s problem谩tico y grosero de toda la pel铆cula, adem谩s del 煤nico. |
It was time to meet the weirdest of all, but in visual terms, because it was the same actor in the body of a child, crazy 馃き The fact is that he will be the most problematic and rude kid in the whole movie, besides the only one. |

Vemos a otros hombres en escena, pero no son tan relevantes para la trama, aunque igualmente son interpretados por el mismo actor. Lo que podemos notar en principio, es que la protagonista est谩 bastante traumatizada, y esto la lleva a pr谩cticamente delirar sobre su situaci贸n, llegando para colmo, a un pueblo donde es atacada constantemente de diferentes formas.
Hay una escena en particular que me dej贸 traumada, y donde estos hombres se ven embarazados y comienzan a parirse el uno al otro, es bastante grotesco. |
We see other men in the scene, but they are not so relevant to the plot, although they are also played by the same actor. What we can notice at first, is that the protagonist is quite traumatized, and this leads her to practically rave about her situation, arriving, to top it all, to a town where she is constantly attacked in different ways.
There's one scene in particular that left me traumatized, and where these men look pregnant and start giving birth to each other, it's quite grotesque. |

| Siendo honesta no entend铆 a qu茅 quer铆a llegar el director con esta situaci贸n, as铆 que tuve que buscar en internet la explicaci贸n del final, encontr谩ndome con una premisa casi tan absurda con el desarrollo de la pel铆cula como tal 馃 Es una pel铆cula hecha para las feministas radicales, seguro ser谩 muy aclamada por ese grupo. Being honest I didn't understand what the director was getting at with this situation, so I had to search the internet for the explanation of the ending, finding an almost as absurd premise with the development of the film as such 馃 It's a film made for radical feminists, sure to be highly acclaimed by that group. I'll leave it up to their interpretation anyway. If you already saw it, tell me what you thought, maybe you noticed something more than me 馃槉 |
