Yay! It's another episode of creative Sunday, one of my favorite edition in the hive learners community, and as usual, I will be sharing my passion, which is the creative sewing side.

From my post title, some of us will be wondering what a placket is, it's simply an opening created in front of a T-shirt, or shirt dress like mine above, especially In shirts that have a very narrow neckline, like mine is a bishop collar dress, for our head to have an easy passage through the neck, a placket is created.

*** Without further ado, let's get right straight into the placket-creating process.***

Materials used

desired fabric
gum stay
a pen
tape rule
Scissors
And of course a sewing machine.

PROCESS

I have already drafted my dress pattern, as you can see, as I stated earlier, we would be focusing only on the placket area.

Step 1

Determine the center of your front pattern, mine is obvious, as I combined two materials to make my front pattern. If it's a single-colored fabric, I have to fold it to get its middle

Step 2

I cut out a piece of fabric width of 6 inches and a length of 6 inches, I also ironed the gum stay on the wrong side of the fabric.

Step 3

I traced a line at the center of the small piece pattern, and measure almost a half inch on both sides, stopping at five inches

Step 4

I sewed down the traced line of almost a half inch on both sides, placing the pattern piece on the wrong side of the dress front pattern.

Step 5
I used my scissors to cut through the middle, still stopping at the marked end

Step 6

I turned the pattern piece to the front part of the dress

Step 7

i folded about one inch on both sides of the turned placket piece, overlapping one side on the other, I sewed down the placket, keeping it in place. My placket is ready.
