Living in the digital world today has made life so much easier in all aspects, a lot of things we struggled with before are now done with ease, let's look at the aspect of communication and making friends, gone are the days when we only had friends who were within proximity. Today, even without physically meeting or travelling the world, we are lucky to have friends around the world and share a connection with them, we've also learned about their different fascinating cultures and beliefs and share ours with them as well, all through the help of the internet.

I know some would argue that physically meeting and making friends is more genuine than having to communicate with a personality behind the screen. No doubt, some people tend to live fake lives on the internet, still, à lot of us are genuine and lucky to meet amazing personalities online, some of whom have even gone beyond friendship to marriage, as a lot of love stories shared started from meeting their spouse online.

We can't deny that some physical friends are dangerous as well, especially those filled with envy for one's success and who even go an extra mile to bring you down, they act as fake friends, putting on a fake mask, behind it all is someone we shouldn't even be close to talk more of calling them a friend. A recent story is how a lady's best friend of 20 years stabbed her in the back because of jealousy, as her friend was about to get married to a rich man she met online, she went behind her back to shre bad things about her friend which wasn't true just to scare the suitor away andfiancéehave him for herself, fortunately, the man loved and believed in his fiancee and saw through the jealousy of the fake friend. This so-called best friend was a physical friend for several years, so you see meeting your friends online or offline isn't the issue, but being careful about how you relate and the information you share about yourself, as no matter how good a person you are, you can't read someone's mind.

So whether you make your friends offline or online, be careful not to divulge sensitive things about yourself, also expect the unexpected as people can pretend to be what they are not. Also do not forsake either way of making friends whether online or in person, having both sides of friends gave their advantages, and it's best to keep both types of friends.

For my benefit, I think making online friends has made it easier for introverts like myself who would often prefer their alone time, than going out for social gatherings and all, I can be in my room all day and still check on all my friends, get advice from them, and I don't have to worry about spending much money going out either, or worry about dressing up just to meet a friend, these are just a few of the benefits of making friends online.
