A fish pedicure , also known as a fish spa, involves dipping ones feet in a tub of water filled with small gish referred to as "doctor fish" because they eat away dead skin found on peoples feet, leaving newer skin exposed. I have experienced it last April with my kids. At first we were laughing out loud because it tickles so much and we can contain our feelings. My kids really enjoyed the experience. However, recently I have read an article stating that fish pedicures may carry several types of disease- causing bacteria which persons who have low immune system and those who are diabetic are not advised to dip their feets. Although this has been a popular trend, many had their reservations and declined treatment after they were informed of the negative effects it brings.
