It's a bit of slow week even though the Around Praetoria was still interesting to listen to, I've decided to revisit the Share a Battlle challenge, instead of doing my usual "This week in Splinterlands..." post. I've decided to share a battle with one of the most recently added cards to the game, part of the 43 soulbound reward cards we are currently earning - Iziar. She is a Magic Attack Monster but most importantly since she is a Legendary Monster, she has two very good abilities as well - more about them in a minute.

Now before we get into the stats discussion of Iziar, let's have a sneak peek into her LORE.

So, Iziar is actually a Storm Giant, who has recently lost her partner but is actually pregnant, whatever that means in the world of Storm Giants.

Alright, we've got some idea of who Iziar is, after glancing at her lore. Let us have a look at her stats and abilities at different key levels now.

image.png

  • Iziar is a Legendary Monster. At level 1 she has 2 Magic Attack, 3 Speed, 0 Armor and 12 Health but most importantly she starts off with her two signature abilities - Taunt (All enemy Monsters target this Monster (if they are able to)) and Void (Reduced damage from Magic attacks). Her starting amount of 12 Health is quite good in conjunction with these two abilities. Of course nothing comes for free, so she costs a fair amount of mana - 11.
  • At level 2 she gains 2 HP for a total of 14.
  • At level 3 she gains her third ability - Martyr (When this Monster dies, adjacent Monsters get +1 to all stats), which makes it an even more interesting Monster in terms of placement.
  • Finally, maxed out at level 4 she has 3 Magic Attack, 3 Speed, 0 Armor and 14 Health. I would say she has the potential to be one of the best cards in this Reward set.

Now that we know what the card does (or doesn't do) at the different levels of play, let us have a look at the battle I have chosen to showcase.

<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>BATTLE<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>

  • The line-up of the Battle and the Ruleset:

image.png

The rulesets for this battle are Silenced Summoners (summoners do not give any stat buffs or debuffs or grant/use any abilities) and Wands Out (Only Monsters with Magic attack may be used in battles). The mana budget is 59 which is considerably above average and I can only use Magic Attack Monsters so the Mana budget should be more than sufficient. Life is the only available Splinter so the choice is pretty obvious in this case.

image.png

image.png

First in the line-up is the Time Meddler. It does not shine at all in this particular battle with its Melee and Ranged-attack focused defensive abilities - Dodge (has an increased chance of evading melee or ranged attacks) and Return Fire (when hit with a ranged attack, unit with return fire will return reduced damage back to their attacker) as well as Thorns (when hit with a melee attack, does damage back to the attacker) at level 10, however, it still has a decent amount of health which could enable it to survive a couple of rounds.

image.png

The 2nd spot goes to Djinn Renova. It is a great support Monster which packs a very good punch with its 4 Magic Attack. I often use it when playing the Life Splinter. Its two supporting abilities - Strengthen (All friendly Monsters have increased Health) and Triage (Heals the friendly back-line Monster that has taken the most damage) are a welcome addition to any line-up.

image.png

image.png

In the 3rd spot is our main protagonist this battle - Iziar. She is level 3 right now and she has Martyr active, this is why I have placed her in the middle of the pack. She is also supported by Djinn Renova's Triage.

image.png

image.png

The 4th spot is for Adelade Brightwing. This is another Monster I basically constantly use due to its ability to Repair (restores some armor to the friendly unit whose armor has taken the most damage) armor , paired with its ability to Resurrect (when a friendly unit dies it is brought back to life with 1 Health. This ability can only trigger once per battle a fallen ally (once per battle)), which is also huge if the right friendly Monster gets to be revived. It also has Flying (this unit has an increased chance of evading melee or ranged attacks from units who do not have the flying ability) which is also really helpful. And lastly it also have Swiftness (all friendly units have increased speed) at level 4 which could be very important or detrimental depending on the rulesets.

image.png

image.png

The 5th spot goes to Magi of Chaos. It is a great neutral Magic Attacker with its 4 Magic Damage. There's a trade-off for that since it only has 1 ability at its disposal - Oppress (does double damage when attacking an enemy that has no attacks). It also has a decent amount of health - 7.

image.png

image.png

In the last spot is the best Monster in the Chaos Legion set and one of the best Monsters in the game as a whole, that's right, I am talking about Doctor Blight. I could write pages upon pages of praise for this Monster of a Monster but I'll keep it short and just list its tool kit in order of appearance - Affliction (when a unit with Affliction hits a target, it has a chance of applying Affliction on the target causing it to be unable to be healed), Camouflage (this unit cannot be targeted for attacks unless it's in the first position), Poison (attacks have a chance to apply poison, which does automatic damage to the target at the beginning of each round after the poison is applied), Scavenger (gains 1 max health each time any unit dies), Weaken (reduces the health of all enemy units). All this for the cost of 4 Mana, which also makes it a perfect candidate for the Little League ruleset. You can basically use it on any occasion and not make a mistake if you have the space in your line-up for it.

It is time for a quick round by round analysis:

  • The Summoner I am going with for the battle is unsurprisingly - General Sloan since none of the Summoners have any abilities, and in such cases all that matters is to choose the cheapest (in terms of Mana) Summoner available. My opponent has had the same idea as me and has decided to go with Sloan as well. We have somewhat similar line-ups which is normal due to the lack of options for this particular battle, however, I'm fortunate enough to have a level 3 Iziar while theirs is still level 2. That's a very big deal actually. Martyr is a game changer in such close to mirror battles.

image.png

  • After 1 round of exchanging blows my Iziar is still standing, the enemy Iziar is still hanging in there as well. Other than that only my Time Meddler has taken a bit of damage.

image.png

  • Round 3 begins and we can see that both Iziars have fallen and have been brought back to life, however, mine is still on the board with 1 health (and has successfully buffed its neighbors), while the enemy one has been removed from the battlefield for good. The enemy Magi of Chaos is on the verge of dying as well.

image.png

  • Round 4 - I have definitely gained the advantage in this battle and its end is pretty close at this point.

image.png

  • Round 5 - the only thing left for my team is to finish off the remaining enemy Doctor Blight. It was a relatively easy win for my team this time around.

image.png

  • My victory seemed certain throughout the battle, and it's no surprise that Splintertools.io shows that I did indeed have a 100% chance to win.

image.png

Iziar is an interesting Magic Attack Monster with a great amount of health and excellent tanking abilities, specifically against Magic damage. Normally I would suggest buying her and let you know what her currently price is but since she is a soul bound Lengendary which cannot be traded for the time being, I will just wish you a lot of luck with your chest openings and may you stumble upon a lot of GF copies of her.
