Black in the Night

There lies the poison apple
But we all fell so low
Feeling like I’ve been here before
A broken mirror on the floor
Nothing left to do but crawl ashore.
A worm in ecstasy
emerges from the hole
Trading knowledge for pleasure
As the apple rots
With nothing more to eat
And nothing more to sell
Beyond our reach

What has been left behind?
