How society adopts its own literature.

Literature and society are Intrinsically linked together and in-fact one cannot exist without the other. There cannot be any meaningful analysis of literature without it being hinged on society. This means that, literature is that vehicle that is used to explain society. And without society, literature cannot thrive since every aspect of the society is literature. Every society has a distinct way of determining and adopting the type of literature it wants to reflect its aspirations. The works of literature are not created in a vacuum, unless it is understood within the context of a society.

Literature can be define as a form of art that is transmitted orally or written for the purpose of education and pleasure. This art manifest itself in the arrangement of words and movement of sounds, coupled with its uniqueness in conveying a message.
Society on the other hand is define to mean, a people who share the same territory, culture,common interest etc. The society teaches us to how to behave, what to believe and prescribe punishment for people who do not follow its customs and laws.
The adoption of literature by a given society manifest itself through ways and can be best understood from many facets.

Literature is an aspect of language that is created by the society. This means that, every literature work is based on a common language that has be adopted by the society. Both the verbal and non-verbal cues, signs and symbols are all contrived by the society that literature is based on. Language is also seen as a social institution without which literature cannot exist. Thus, the society use of a language to communicate gives birth to the kind of literature it chooses.

Another key determinants of literature and how the society determines it is how literature is created with conventions,norms and values of the society in mind. This means that, every literary work or literature must conform with the practices of the people. Literature cannot be best describe as a reflection of the society if it does not reflect the norms and practices that is universally accepted by the society. This helps the society to create its own literature that is unique from other literature from other societies.

Any change in society calls for change in the dimension of literature. For every society, the cultures and practices keeps evolving as time passes by. So does the literature of that evolving society. It changes to conform with the new adoption of rejection of the society.This means that, any alteration in the way the society does an activity is likely to alter the type of literature adopted as well. For example, the societies way of speaking,dressing, food, artifacts etc keeps evolving and so does literature changes to accept or critique the change as positive or negative.
