My main 3 tips for everyone starting cycling are:
- You don't have to buy expensive equipment, just start riding any bike you have around and enjoy the freedom it brings.
- Don't push too hard too soon. It can lead to injuries or over-training. More often over-training though, because cycling is pretty low impact sport, which is great for beginners. But, when pushing too hard too soon, you can feel very exhausted and that's what you want to avoid. Good rule of thumb is not more than 30 minutes to 1 hour a week of hard riding.
- Find other people who ride in your area and make friends with them, it can really help you get into cycling more, especially if they do it seriously.
