ENGLISH
Grandmothers have a language of their own that needs no words; it is translated into the time they gift us, the infinite patience of their hands, and a love that seems to never run dry. Being a grandmother means becoming a bridge between the past and the future, delivering through every hug an endless array of stories, advice, and a tenderness that shapes our souls. They don’t just give us their time; they give us their entire lives, woven with threads of sacrifice and sweetness, reminding us that the purest love is that which is given without expecting anything in return.
There is a particular beauty in family gatherings, in the scent of grass, and in the laughter that fills the air. A few days ago, we gathered to celebrate the life of a woman who is both our root and our calm: Santa.
Turning 84 is a milestone, but celebrating them when the body no longer responds as it once did carries a deeper meaning. Santa can no longer walk, and seeing her there, sitting under the shade of the trees, gave us a silent lesson: love doesn't need us to run toward it; love is knowing how to stay by the side of the one who now needs us to be their steps.
It was one of those afternoons that felt "like the old days." Unpretentious, just us, the sun filtering through the branches, and that straw hat that is now part of her essence. The cake was a tribute to her sweetness: white, pure, and adorned with tiny flowers, reminding us that wisdom doesn't always come in grand speeches; sometimes, it’s simply about being there and letting yourself be loved.
There were no great luxuries, but there was an unforgettable atmosphere. Because old age can be tough, but when accompanied by hands that hold you, it becomes a well-deserved rest. Thank you, Santa, for teaching us that to be the center of someone’s world, you don't need to take a single step; you only need to have loved as much as you have.
Thank you very much for joining me and reading my post. I hope you enjoyed it.
