The way we feel about our selves is our self esteem or concept. Low self esteem is the inability to feel good about yourself. It is usually characterized by feelings of inadequacy, worthlessness, and a lack of self confidence.

Guilty, anxiety and fear have the greatest influence in causing people to have poor self esteem. Most times we feel guilty for the way we treated others around us. Guilt affects people in different ways.

It can causes many people to withdraw within themselves. They want to keep their guilt feelings hidden. As a result, they don't want others to come close to them because they are afraid someone will find out what they have done and may not like them anymore. On the other hand, others will allow their guilt to become an obsession that they talk about constantly. They continually confess their sins to others and don't allow themselves or others to forget the past.

Guilt often expresses itself in feelings of inadequacy which is a sign of low self esteem. Some think that because of their past they are not good enough to teach others. Sometimes guilt expresses it's self physically.
