Feeling afraid is normal, it is one of human feelings but allowing it to halt your progress in life is abnormal - George Dee.

Welcome to another weekend with @galenkp weekend engagement topics and for this week, I do love to share about the things I am afraid of.
This particular topic reminds me of a question I was asked at an interview some years ago, the interviewer asked, "What are your fears and weaknesses?".
I remembered putting up a great smile before responding, "I don't have fears or weaknesses".
Deep inside me, I was scared of not getting the job because there are people with higher certificates seeking that same position. During that time, I walk into every interview with confidence but there is always a height of fear that accompanies my confidence.
The question, what if things don't go as planned? is always somewhere in my head and to eradicate any form of guilt in the end, I alway put in my best. Claiming not to have any fear or weakness is the biggest lie I have ever told but it's fine by me because most times, the society is not ready to know the truth.
They judge you by it and their judgement can be very bad most times.
Every human has one thing they are scared of and I am not exempted, it is really not a bad thing. After all, I am not a robot and my fears are part of the things that make me human. The society can make one feel like a weakling for being afraid of some things and it is left to me whether to allow their claims to get into our heads or not.
I have my fears but they do not limit or create barriers for me in life. Instead, they motivate me in a way I sometimes do not comprehend.
Right from childhood, I have always had a fear of what's ahead of me. The fear of the future is a compound thing for me because it harbours many other kinds of fears and being scared of what's ahead has forced me into putting my best into everything I am doing and if things probably don't work out at the end, I just agree that some things are not just meant to be.
Putting my best into anything I am doing doesn't take away the fear of what the outcome would be but it will help me make peace with my conscience that I did put in my best and things didn't just work out well. Life and the world is at a stage where many times, your input do not determine the output. You can put in so much and get nothing while someone with the same qualities as you or less will do less and get the best outcome so I just take it that somethings weren't meant to happen at all but because we don't know, we have to try first.
The fear of not being there for my family, the fear of failing, the fear of dying even though death is inevitable and others struck my heart once in a while. I won't deny they make me feel down but I get inspired at the same time. I always told myself that even though I won't be here tomorrow, I have to make today count.
There was a particular time I couldn't walk with my left leg, the fear of not walking again took over my heart but thinking about it over and over again kept pushing me to make sure I was back on my feet.
Life is unpredictable and that's one of the edge it has over us. Every day, we make moves without knowing what the outcomes and the fear of things not going as planned disturbs me a lot.
We travel without knowing if we will get to our destination, we invest without knowing if we will make a profit or not, we do a lot of things and the height of it is when I have limited influence on what the outcome would be for me, situation like this scares me the most.
Will it be good or bad? I just can't seem to take my mind off until I see the results.
I had to go for an x-ray due to the pain I was feeling in my chest, my BP wasn't normal at that time and there was a speculation that the pain and blood pressure might be connected.
I was afraid of what the result could be, a hole in my heart and many other crazy things kept coming to my head. I just couldn't help it and pretending not to be bothered was impossible. The result was completely beyond my power and I have no influence on what the outcome would be and this made me really terrified.
In the end, the pain had nothing to do with the blood pressure and I felt relieved to some extent.
My fears are not about myself, I feel scared about my family, my friends and lots of other things. I just can't prevent myself from being worried about them especially when they are in a tight situation that is beyond their capability.
Tomorrow is unknown, no one can definitely tell what would happen in the next minute and that fear of the unknown is my biggest fear. The positive thing about my fear is how I feel energized to make things go as planned if they won't, not trying is not an option and as long as we are here, we can still make a difference.
