It's friendship month, and a lot was going on in my head as I thought about my project for the DIY contest. For a moment, I remembered my best friends from childhood and felt happy knowing that they are doing well in life.
I thought about the ones I have lost touch with and still felt happy because of the beautiful memories we've had.
Finally, I thought about a very close one I lost to an accident sometimes in 2016 that broke my heart. He is definitely in a better place, and I pray his soul continues to rest in perfect peace.
My intention was to make something mind-blowing for the contest, but all I could think of was love, the bond that strengthens the word "friendship."
Friendship is all about love, and it's amazing how we still have one person who wouldn't let go no matter what life brings our way.
For my entry to the DIY Friendship contest, I made something as simple as a friendship frame, and that's all I could think of about the theme.
Materials Used.
Carton
Cardboard
Evostick gum
Scissors
Glossy paint
Procedure
I started by opening the carton without causing any damage to it.
I cut out the two biggest rectangles in the carton since I needed a thick frame for the project.
I kept the two rectangles aside and made something for the edges of the rectangle.
I cut a smaller rectangle of the same length with the edges of the big rectangle but short.
I made the replica for the small rectangles and removed their first layers.
After getting these rectangles, I moved on to making the frame.
I applied the Evostick gum to the surface of the big rectangle and placed the other one on it.
The frame is thicker and better when doubled.
I applied gum to the small rectangles and gently placed them in their respective positions.
I repeated the process for the rectangle, from which I removed the surface as well.
I allowed the frame to dry for some minutes before painting every part of the frame with the black glossy paint.
I ensured the frame is properly painted and put it aside for the paint to dry.
While the frame is getting dry, I did a simple drawing to represent two people holding hands.
They represent friends, I trimmed the shape out from the cardboard.
I moved on to cutting the symbol of friendship, which is love.
I made the love with different colors of cardboard, and they are of different sizes.
The frame had dried after the drawing and cutting all the shapes.
Then I applied Evostick gum to the friends drawing and gently placed it at the bottom right corner of the frame.
I applied the gum to a small love shape and placed it between the friends.
I applied gum to the other love shape and started placing them one after the other on the frame until I exhausted them.
I allowed the frame to dry, and my friendship frame is ready.
What's friendship without love? It's definitely incomplete, and I will use this medium to appreciate all the loyal friends across the world.
