So, we'll start with the arrivals. On Father's Day night our cat Yaga calved a bunch of kittehs. Or as my daughter likes to call them, the handfuls of happiness. I haven't posted any pics of the little creatures of cuteness yet because I don't usually mess with baby kittens the first week or two of their lives, but as their eyes are starting to open, I thought it was high time to share them with ya'll:
We are calling a couple of them Lentils and Beans which I find absolutely hilarious as we have a Pickles already馃槅
Yaga is the best mother, and a smart one at that as she popped the little catlings out in my daughter's closet. Yaga's great grandmother, The Lizard, made me sit cross legged on the floor so she could have her kittens in my lap. I much prefer not being a delivery room.
We tend to have a batch of kittens every two years here on the farm. As it is a pretty large chunk of land, rodents can get out of control, especially as there are barrels of feed around, so I keep around ten cats or so to keep everything in check.
Okay, and it's a lot of fun to have kittens, they are just too cute!
I haven't taken any time off from anything in a very long time. And you know what? I am ready for a break. Not only that, I am more than ready for some fun, so I am wandering off for a few days to go have some.
Have no fear though, I will be back on here next Tuesday cranking out foodie, homesteading, book review, and travel posts galore, because I truly love sharing stuff with ya'll and even more than that, I adore this community we have.
The lavender's almost ready to harvest, I've got tons more jam to make, a huge upcoming harvest to preserve, and there's going to be loads of freeze drying food adventures coming up. I am also more than sure I will have a couple of adventures while I am off in the wilderness for the next few days that I'll share, and my daughter's last foray to the state fair is coming up. Future post fodder galore!!
Because that's the thing, rest and restoration is an important part of life too. I've been pretty horrid at the allowing myself to stop and pause and divert into existence without posting and hustling every. single. day. So it's time to mix it up a bit.
And me thinks it will be very good for the creative part of the Kat brain stew.
