There is a popular belief in around my village that after giving birth to kittens, a cat changes its house or place seven times with them. Earlier I never used to believe this, but last few weeks, I am surprised to see a Cat family moving and changing houses more frequently.
There were 3 kittens and their mothers that can be seen in our neighbouring homes. Recently, they made our home their stay. I am bot sure about tye basic reason of their such behavior, but I guess, they do so because of the safety of the kittens. When the mother cat finds the old place unsafe, such as due to noise, humans, dogs, or other dangers, she will move the kittens to another location. Earlier I have seen them in my neighborhood home, and now they were playing at my home.
Most of the time, I found the kittens alone playing around. They latches on flying or even at pigeon they fail to attack. In the meantime, the mother cat went out to arrange food for their kittens. Many a times I saw her carrying big mouse in their mouth for the kids. And on occasion she lay on the ground to feed their kids. It was a great treat to watch. Meanwhile, one of the kittens seems fond of my scooter, as she can be found resting on it most of time.
Kittens spend their day doing active things like chasing, pouncing, and climbing. They have a lot of energy and love to play. They practice natural hunting skills by stalking and jumping on toys or feathers. After high energy play, they fall fast asleep to rest and grow. Here are some more picture I snapped while they were resting at one corner of the courtyard.
I doubt there is any scientific reason associated with 7 houses. I think Cats may move once or several times depending on the environment, or they may stay in the same place as long as they want. They see where they find availability of foods. In our houses and in neighbors, there is a good source of milk through cows. Might be these Cats and kittens find themnas a good source of the fooding.
In good faith - Peace!!
