The last four days I have asked a lot of my hobbit carcass. With the upcoming grand opening of the expansion of the new waterpark at the theme park it's been more than a bit of a melee at the bakery. Especially since I am just getting my flour-dusted feet back under me after being off for the last six months. Also, I'm also the lead baker now, so there's that.
Not that I don't mind a challenge, but something people might not know about theme parks is the sheer hum of activity backstage. Things are constantly evolving, and you better be quick on the uptake too. I enjoy a bit of organized chaos, but holy wow, the last couple days have been something, with this weekend and the opening of the new slides, attractions, restaurant, and bar about to compound things.
On top of all that, on Saturday, the hubs and I hosted his annual rifle team bbq here on the farm. Which meant cooking for and entertaining 40 people. By entertaining I mean bbqing hamburgers and hotdogs, whipping up cream cheese frosted banana cake, serving endless amount of punch and iced tea, and enjoying the kids throwing lead down both the rifle and skeet ranges. It was a good time.
But here I am, four days of very long hours of work and entertaining later, and well, I am feeling a bit wrung out. I suppose that's normal, especially with this unrelenting gray, soggy weather that's been dragging along.
So, I did what I usually do when I need me a bit of a pick up, I took a mini farm viewing respite. Today's pause and existential infusion was of the just take in the flowers variety. We have so many pretties in bloom already around here. Irises are out, the begonia is flamboyant, and the little Wave petunia basket my ma made me is starting to take off.
I just love flowers.
Which is a good thing, as I need to get out and put my dahlia seedlings out for a good hardening off sesh today. I also have to pot on various plants, start a flat of basil, soak the corn seed for tomorrow's planting, and I really do need to plant some more carrots.
Tomorrow I get to sow corn, spruce up the RV spot before our next camper arrives this weekend, put in some beans before our lovely 80 degree weather arrives this weekend, transplant strawflowers, and install some garden irrigation with the hubs.
Plus, today I get to volunteer at the community dinner and it's trivia night. I am sure there's other things to do, as there always is, but I don't mind.
You know, because it's late spring and there's always a flower or two to take in...
