Yes, Today the most discussed matter in the media, every now and then is about - 'Rain water harvesting'...
We are living in a small, but a fast developing city called Mangalore, in south India. Earlier here we could see huge compounds with tile-roofed beautiful big houses, which then had lots of empty space around the houses. But slowly the urbanisation started and most of these beautiful bungalows got demolished as people sold their properties to the builders. This space was occupied by the sky-high flats and other commercial buildings with no space for rain water to get absorbed naturally into the earth's layers!!.
Because of this the level of water inside the earth has gone down by few meters in the recent years, which may eventually lead to a severe water crisis for the city in the coming years!.
So I too felt like going for a rain water harvesting for our well, as the well is too small and the level of water was decreasing every year.
Got a good plumber to fix these pipes and filters, last week. After the completion of our work during last few days we have received good rains. So now the level of water has increased much in our well and we are happy to see that we have got pretty good storage of water for next year!.
Do you have any water problems in your place? How are you coping with it?
