Hard Fork 21 is very likely upon us now so as I see a lot of posts say we have to be prepared. Now this strikes me as funny, what do I have to be prepared for? To make less money? That is a given, but actually it doesn't hurt me that much because I already make very little of that so making 40% less of very little is not something to worry about. I do believe it is a problem for those who do make enough to make at least a decent side income in their countries. They will earn less, despite whatever people are saying, just think it over there are at least I would think 3,000 people who post something on this platform every day, the reward pool is around $20,000.00, so take away the self votes, the bid bot votes and the circle jerk votes and you don't have that much left, and now take away 40% of author rewards.
So I was getting say $1.50 a day with 75/25, or better said my post made $2.00, but after hard fork 21 that $1.50 becomes $0.90, that is 50% of what is left after STINC takes their 10% tax, which also has me kind of laughing I read a lot of posts from these bigger guys who hate taxes and yet they are OK with STINC taxes, go figure. Personally I don't mind that 10% but just for standing up to their ideals those who hate taxes and make a big deal about it should make their voices heard.
I know the idea that the pro HF21 are trying to sell is that because the curators will get bigger rewards they will vote more. Now let's see some numbers, in reality it is not that great for curators, like a guy with 50,000 SP has a vote value of about $1.00, better said if this guy votes an average of 10 votes a day his curation rewards will go from a measly $2.50 to a whopping $4.50, now is $2.00 extra dollars a day something that will make you actually read dozens of articles a day to pick the ones you consider to be good enough to vote on? I would think not, but that is what HF21 is selling.
And did you see that? 50,000 is a pretty good sized account think what someone who only has a few hundred SP thinks about this. And probably this small guy is the one seeing his income reduced by around 40%, because oops, the big guys actually don't think a few dollars extra a day is enough for them to change their habits, so no extra curating.
Have you seen who is in favor of this? All big accounts and probably the few smaller accounts who think that by being yes men, they will receive more votes after the HF, now I wonder if these pro HF accounts are already curating at 100%? Because if not and they think that by curating Steemit will become huge why are they not voting now? And if they are already curating at 100%, where will the extra votes from curators come from?
As you can see I said that bid bots, circle jerks and self votes eat away a nice portion of the reward pool, but wait HF21 will do away with this. That is another laugh, circle jerk is something that is here to stay, because why would you not vote for your buddies and they vote for you just because some guy from Senegal posted a pretty good article and you guys are all going to vote for him? Come on that is a fanciful wish, the circle jerkers are going to vote exactly as now. Bid bots are actually one of the main reasons people buy Steem to buy votes with, or do you think Steem Inc sells Steem every day to investors just waiting for any Steem to go on the markets to invest in?
And then self votes, yes people will now stop self voting because they will only get 50% as authors now and the other 50% goes to curators. Another oops, I forgot they curate themselves. And if you think downvotes are going to scare them, it depends, a down vote from a fairly good sized account would damage me considerably but a whale with an over 70 REP and some 500,000 SP wouldn't feel it and it would probably strike back, after a couple of days nobody screws with that whale again.
So actually I think instead of Hard Fork 21 it should be called Hard Fuck Everyone.
