Things are getting out of hand now, in the department of Colon, where Dole has its export facilities in Puerto Castilla, well yesterday I don't know for what reason Dole knowing there are roadblocks unwittingly sent about 62 containers I don't know if they were empty and these containers were stopped by the guys who are blocking the roads.
The military and police arrived there were fights, gas, even some shots some people were wounded and supposedly before the people took off they set fire to several containers. The number of containers set on fire is not known according to the local press it was 6, according to Dole 15 but I saw a video which showed 24 containers burned, plus another one that was burned last night while it was crossing a bridge.
Today apparently there is a news blackout but via Facebook it seems two more containers were burned this morning. The roadblocks, protests and marches will continue tomorrow and apparently there is no end in sight, what the thing started over was two articles in a law which supposedly will set off the privatization of education and healthcare, the doctors and teachers one demand is that these two articles be eliminated but for some unknown reason the government is not willing to do this.
OK maybe not so unknown, I have been told that these two articles are part of the requirements for an IMF loan, because Honduras is so screwed up that without loans the government can't survive.
