Today is the day we set forth to the Grand Canyon! I am very excited for this trip because it's been on my bucket list for some time now to see the GC! Finally on our way!
Leaving Lake Arrowhead towards the Grand Canyon is approximately a 450 mile drive which is pretty long around 7 hours. We got into Arizona just before nightfall even had time to go a little off road (as much as one can in an X1) went down a dirt road right off the freeway that leads to a never ending dirt road. One day I will need to come back and explore this in the G Wagon because it seems like an awesome middle of no where adventure.
I don't know why but I have always been drawn to deserts. I feel very at home in the desert, in the middle of no where, apart and away from civilization. It is the peace, the calm and the quietness of everything around me. The stars at night during the drive to the canyon are just amazing! Sadly I didn't have anything with me to allow me to take a long exposure photo on my phone. Being about 7000 feet up with almost no lights in the area make the sky and stars look like one Giant IMAX screen. It's breath taking! BTW did i mention it was 26 degrees at 6pm but it was not snowing.
Of course I had to pull over and take a quick picture of the sunset. It was really incredible!
Can't wait to finally see the Grand Canyon tomorrow, I hope it doesn't disappoint.
