I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to spend a month living in the Ubushobozi house this summer. The ladies at Ubushobozi have learned to sew, weave, speak English, use the computer/internet, and even practice traditional African dance and yoga through the project. They have become independent and proud of their job at the cooperative they have created together as a team. I saw them as single mothers comfortably supporting their children, I was invited to visit their newly built homes, and watched as they used their skills to bring their lives to a new level. I was extremely empowered by the attitude and mindset that I soon came to know so well, and can only hope that I too have accepted a new outlook and truth on life and the power that each of us hold to create our own world no matter the situations we are handed.
