A cursory look at the calendar reveals that HF21 is just a few days away. The anticipations, as well as the uncertainties, are incredibly high. The emotions too are high because no one knows exactly what to expect after HF21.
However, one thing is certain, that is, Steem Power will become everything if HF21 goes on as planned. In short, HF21 will herald an era where Steem Power becomes everything on the Steem blockchain.
And that is good for the growth of Steem, although those who have little or no stake in Steem will grumble. As you most probably know, HF21 will introduce a 50/50 reward system for authors and curators. This change, as I perceive it, is what will make Steem Power the most valuable asset on Steem after HF21.
A 50/50 reward system means that curating can now fetch as much reward as content creating which, for me, is a noble change. A noble change that will change the voting psychology from near altruism (as we presently have it) to mutual benefit.
More than ever before in the history of Steem, we are about to be the guests in a Steem party where Steem Power will not only become desirable but unimaginably rewarding.
What then should we expect? The answer is quite simple - more and more people will be willing to hold SP instead of liquid Steem because of the incentives.
Also, we can expect more power ups from different accounts with hitherto liquid Steem. Some old investors are also quite likely to come back, especially now that SP is cheap.
Another important point is that a new culture that rewards SP will reduce the selling pressure on Steem which started as soon as the bear market took the steering wheel.
And such culture, without bias and sentiments, will likely make Steem more valuable judging from the elementary economics of demand and supply.
Furthermore, when SP becomes everything, we can expect that more liquid Steem will go into the hands of those who have already staked their Steem. And since such people already have an investment mindset, it is very likely that more liquid Steem will go into SP than hit the markets.
A little voice in my head keeps telling me that HF21 will impact positively on the price of Steem within the next three months. The reason being that there will be less Steem to sell but more to buy. Well, only time will tell whether my predictions are logical or merely illusionary.
