The muse(ic)

A muse is a person who gives an artist ideas, inspiration or desire to create art, poetry, or music. But does one need to be an artist to benefit from the influence of a muse?

Something happened today that made me ponder this very thing and whilst doing so a track began to play at the café I was sitting at. I stopped to take a listen as it felt quite relevant; It's funny how sometimes life provides the right soundtrack at the most appropriate moment. _{image src}

After I had listened to the track I hit Spotify and added it to a play list; It was a track that I felt now meant something to me. It made me think of @jaynie and a post she wrote recently which you can see here. She begins with:

Music follows me everywhere! It dictates mood and influences creativity. It accompanies me along my cooking adventures and allows me to get lost in emotion... There really are very few moments in my days when music is not present and I am always a little perplexed at people who seem to live without it for the most part...

"Music follows me everywhere. It dictates mood and influences creativity." she says. Yes, I get it Jaynie, it does the same to me.

Here's the track that played right at the very moment when I needed to hear it and instantly it touched me...Maybe it's a great track, or maybe, due to the moment in which it began to play, it just resonated with my mood, emotion or feelings. All I know is it's in me now and will return me to that moment and the focus of my thoughts every time I hear it.

As I pondered today, sipping my coffee, I came to understand that for me the definition of muse was a little different. You can see my amended version below. One doesn't need to be an artist to paint a beautiful life, create the poetry of love, or to hear soundtrack of a deeply-connected relationship; One just needs a muse.
