Was it you I saw today.
I'm not sure but I want to believe it was.
You were standing there. Silent. Then you turned away just as my hand raised to reach for you. Of course, I knew...It couldn't be, but I believed. I've always believed, since you were here, and then were gone.
There's something each day, and I believe you're there, here I mean, but then...I know you're not.
How could you be so far away and yet I still feel you here and when I need you I look inside and you're there, with me...But not.
You're not hard to find, but impossible to see, yet last night you came to me, in my dreams, on silver wings and clouds of light. Was it real? What is real; What you see or touch, or is it only what you feel.
We touched the sky, the stars and moon, and for a moment you were here, with me. You were real. And when I woke you were gone, I missed you then and evermore, but knew you were here, and yet were not.
Was it you I saw today.
I'm not sure but I want to believe it was. You were standing there silent, then you turned away just as my hand raised to reach for you. But...I've been here before, another day; Yesterday? Tomorrow?
You're everywhere we ever went, I hear you in the strangers laugh. I dream of you, awake, and then the spoon drops and the caf茅 is full of people again, but empty of you. I feel your touch in the wind; Cold fingers on my face and I turn...But you're not there, you're inside me, here, where it's cold and dark but for the memory of you.
There's something each day, and I believe you're there. Here.
I'm alone. I don't exist. There is no me without you and yet I am here, and you're not. I place the rose on the stone, the cold slab burning my fingers like the heat of the passion we shared; Then I turn away.
Cold wind strokes my face or was that you. I believe you're here. But I know you're not.
