I'm sitting in a café below a hospital at the moment enjoying a ham and cheese toasted croissant and working a little on my laptop...I'm here waiting for my wife Faith who is upstairs in the hospital having an operation.
A few months ago Faith had some complications arise and there was some fear that she had cancer. She went through a month of testing for every cancer known to mankind and fortunately was cleared; Of course, that didn't mean she was in the clear as her issues remained. After some more testing a possible cause was determined and it's that which is being addressed here in the hospital today.
She's been in for an hour now, and I don't expect to see her for about that long again. She was a little worried last night, didn't sleep very well, and neither did I really, but she's in good hands, the best in the business really, and we're confident she'll be fine. I'm nervous though, as you would probably imagine.
I've been very worried of late, about Faith; She has this issue to deal with, the pain that has come along with it, plus the fact her mum actually does have cancer, a secondary cancer which is very serious, and she's been spreading herself thinly these last weeks physically and emotionally...Especially considering she's still running our business and all. I've done what I can in that time, but I fear I haven't been much help.
Moving forward I'll ramp up my assistance and for the next few weeks will be nurse G-dog on duty!
I've worked out a schedule, with flexibility for unknowns, so that I can help at home where required, look after Faith, do my job and support her with her mum's situation which is going to play out next week...It's all a bit of a juggle at the moment but I think we'll manage.
I know many of you have ailments or are caring for those who have them and I wonder, how have you amended your lives and schedules to make sure you can be present to assist those that need it, or look after yourself and keep life moving forward at the same time? Maybe some of your actions and processes will work for me too, so don't hesitate to share them below.
I'm happy to play nurse for Faith, she takes care of me better than you could ever imagine and is a strong, capable woman, so I'll use her for motivation and do what I have to do to make things as easy and comfortable as I can for her - I'll not be wearing a nurses outfit though.
Or maybe I will...You'll never know.
Have a great day y'all, and feel free to comment below.
