The end of the year is a super-busy time for my wife, the lovely Faith. No, she's not one of Santa's elf helpers or anything, just that she has to cram her vast clientele into a reduced amount of working days. In contrast my workload declines (fortunately) and I tend to have more time on my hands...Even more time than I usually do.

This is a situation that leads to some disgruntlement annoyance on her behalf although she rarely grumbles. (I do enough of that for the both of us to be honest.) src

My wife and I are fortunate to have a pretty good relationship, sort of like yin and yang although I prefer to describe it as whiskey and ice, burgers and chips, donuts and coffee... I think you get the picture. We are close, and have each others' back.

This makes it difficult to see her work so hard and every year I find myself wishing I could assist her in some way. I can't of course as I have no clue how to do what she does. She runs our business and whilst the business aspect of it is straightforward enough for me to understand it's actually providing the service that is beyond me. And so I don't try.

I try to help around the house (but probably fail miserably) and also try to keep a low profile meaning I try not to gloat about the fact I'm livin' large whilst she's working so hard - No point us both not enjoying ourselves right? 馃榿

I rarely speak about it but back in 2013/2014 we went through a very difficult time financially and emotionally.

I owned a company that operated in my own field with another guy who decided that all the money would look much better in his personal account. It cost me seven figures, the company which I had to relinquish to him and a lot of money in legal expenses. That doesn't even take into account the emotional cost which was great.

The thing is, that it also made us reevaluate our lives, who we were and who we wanted to be. So it's not all bad. It also made us have to work much, much, much harder to avoid losing everything we had worked for in our lives. The business my wife and I own was the only thing that enabled us to keep our house and she worked from 7am to 11pm at it, kept our household together and all whilst I was generally absent trying to start up a company all over again to service my own clients, most of whom were interstate.

Anyway, we survived, are stronger and better people for it and, of course, as a couple...Well, I think we are pretty unbreakable.

I feel bad at this time of year considering I spend my work days in caf茅s, rolling around the city seeing mates, building Lego and generally just kicking back. I finish my working year tomorrow, the 20th. Faith works right through to Christmas eve and is incredibly busy She sometimes finishes work quite late too. Sometimes I think it would be easier for her if she was a Santa's helper!

I do what I can to help and to try and keep her spirits up and today I sent her a song by Florida Georgia Line, one of my favourite bands. It's a song about what we will be doing for two weeks after she winds up for the year...Her response...Well, she sent me this simple "x", by text message. It's enough.

Here's a link to the song I sent her if you're interested.

I hope y'all are having a great run into the festive season, are wrapping up the year in style and planning for a great 2020. I'm sure you all have those that inspire you as my wife does me so maybe throw them a line and say so.
