Wasn't really sure what to talk about today...
I guess HF21 has been talked about on all sides, and most people still don't know what to expect.
The dominant sentiment (obviously dominated by authors) is HF21 will be bad for content creators, and especially small ones. And while I subscribe to this sentiment, I leave a small window open for unexpected positive changes that will be triggered by HF21.
It's strange that when I say HF21 I usually mean the Economic Improvement Proposal (EIP), not the Steem Proposal System (SPS). And I do that understanding what both mean. And I am generally favorable to the latter but unfavorable to the former.
When I've said "positive changes" a paragraph above, my thinking was a little twisted. If you remember, the HF20 proposal was generally well received (including by myself), and the implementation/rollout left a lot to be desired. And one of the main points of that hardfork still hasn't found a clear solution, now that we come to the next big iteration: onboarding.
So, for HF20, high expectations, at most bad rollout and ok results when thinking on the medium-long term.
Now, the sentiment is highly negative. Not entirely. There are supporters of HF21, otherwise it wouldn't have so high chances to pull through consensus voting.
Maybe, using this weirdly reverse logic, if now the sentiment is negative, the outcome will be much better than expectations? Wouldn't that be something?
If STEEM goes to the moon as a result of this hardfork, all steemians will see it as a great outcome, despite the economic twists we will experience. But will it?
Otherwise, some will be more happy than others. Some will adapt, others will not. And some will leave. But also others will join, right? Because onboarding was fixed in HF20.
