THE POWER OF FIRST IMPRESSION
Hello #scifimultiverse, I trust you are doing well. I welcome you to my blog.
First impressions are often loud. They sometimes make or mar us. They are powerful tools that influence people's perception of others. They can be positive or negative. First impressions can also be misleading when it's not properly scrutinised. Sometimes a quick conclusion about someone may turn out wrong because, as individuals, we carry many burdens that can affect our subconscious, which may portray us in a bad light when our personality is under scrutiny.
A technician
I once recruited a technician who impressed me during the assessment. His attitude, skills, and competencies matched the profile and Job description. As a result, I did not bother to complete other random checks about his personality and other things. A few months into his onboarding, we noticed that the person had anger issues that led to altercations. Knowing fully well what that means for me and my department, I wouldn’t want to repeat such mistakes; therefore, I chatted a new way to ensure I guard against such errors through deepening my verification process from the previous workplace of candidates to get all facts and ensure that any impression from such candidates is genuine and void of serious deceit.
However, some first impressions can be genuine, but if things change along the line, the individual may also be influenced by such changes. For example, when a calm person is recruited into a toxic environment, the environment may turn the person into an erratic person out of frustration. This is why we must allow time and give people a second chance or the benefit of doubt before making conclusions about their personality or character. Time is the revealer of all truths.
Additionally, to leave a positive first impression when meeting someone new, dressing properly, being careful with our utterances, and observing the person's body language will help us create a lasting positive impression.

Again, our smiles, little deeds of kindness, empathy, and attention to detail can create a lasting positive first impression. Moreover, if it is a meeting for an interview or proposal presentation, preparing well and researching the company and product in question will boost our first impression on the panel.
In conclusion, a positive impression is a bridge builder and can open us to great opportunities beyond our horizons within minutes of meeting, creating impacts that will last for years in the people we meet on our life journey.
