In the world of PC gaming there have always been many ways to assemble the internal components of the computer, generally we resort to a specialized case which distributes the pieces in an appropriate way, but other people go beyond that, letting their imagination fly, making really incredible modifications.
For a decade there have been photos in many places on the Internet and even videos where you can see with the naked eye all the pieces that make up a computer submerged in water, some give you the appearance of being a fish tank, this has made a great controversy because certainly water is a conductor of electricity.
How is this possible? Some people claim that it is an optical effect, which makes you see as if the components are really in water, however, it has been proven that it is not such an effect, this can be done, but the liquid contained in these fish tanks is not exactly water, it is something very simple and efficient.
Immersion cooling
In the world of computing there are several types of cooling for our components, the most common is air cooling which is done through heat sinks and fan coolers.
Within these systems we can find the cooling by immersion that consists of introducing the components of the computer in a deposit or fish tank with a nonconductive liquid which is in charge to maintain all the pieces to an optimal temperature.
The most economical liquid used by most people who are encouraged to perform immersion cooling in their homes is mineral oil, thanks to its composition is a non-conductive liquid in addition to being an excellent coolant, allowing the effect of having a computer immersed in "water".
Although it may not seem that this type of cooling is very effective, having the ability to dissipate heat optimally, on the YouTube platform you can find many videos of people performing temperature tests on components such as the processor or the video card obviously causing them stress to see what maximum temperature they reach.
In addition, many companies choose this cooling system to protect their servers which emit large amounts of heat, remember that these teams are constantly with high temperatures and this system is really efficient establishing excellent values in each of its parts.
Discovered this type of cooling several people would fly their imagination making mods that would impact anyone who did not know this technique, one of the most striking is the PC Aquarium, is to have a small aquarium with one or more fish, in turn see the computer components submerged with these animals.
It is one of the magic of the PC world, being able to modify the look of your computer to your liking is something that fills many with enthusiasm and satisfaction, in a next occasion I will show some really amazing mods, but for now we will stay with this beautiful image of a computer submerged in mineral oil.
