Once again we have another “Share Your Battle” competition. This time around we are having the joy of playing with the River Nymph. In this article we will discuss the reasons for using this card, talk about the strengths and weaknesses of this card as well as talk about situations in which this card can be played. Last but not least, we will take a look at an example battle and discuss our strategy the lead us to victory. With that being said, let’s get started.

River Nymph

First things first, we need to talk about the River Nymph itself. It is a Water element card that is costing 4 mana to play. This means that we can play it in almost any kind of mana restriction battle. Furthermore, we need to look at its stats. On level one this card brings 1 magic attack, 2 speed as well as 3 health to the table. A fairly solid card in my opinion. With higher levels this card is getting fairly stronger and it has its maximum potential at 2 attack, 3 speed and 4 health.

The real use-case for this card comes into mind once we take a look at its ability. With the help of the Cleanse Ability, this card is able to delete any negative effect that has been resting on the card in the first position. This is incredible valuable to use if your tank is poisoned or is stunned. Why is this so powerful? Well, especially in battles where every monster is poisoned, we are getting a great advantage by deleting the tank’s disadvantage. With higher levels, this card is also getting the Amplify and Swiftness Ability which brings further advantages to our team. I think that especially the Poison use case as well as the Equalizer and Explosion Rulesets are the most useful use cases for this card.

Special Situation Requires Special Strategy

As I just mentioned, this card is very good to use in the Poison Ruleset. Well, this is exactly the case that we are facing now. But not only that. We are getting Double Trouble and are getting an additional negative Ruleset: Earthquake. This unfortunately means that if we do not have an immune flying monster, we will need to take damage anyway. So what to do, if we our destiny is to take damage: Yes! As much health and armor as possible.

Because we are playing Tarsa anyways, we will get an extra Armor. Other than that we now have to think about what monsters to use. I decided to go with my gut and put Oshannus and Nerissa to the battlefield. Both oh them have a great amount of health and will not be stroke down by the first blow. On top of that, both are magic attackers which helps us to bring the enemy’s health down quicker as we do not have to bother with their armor. Nerissa comes with 3 magic attack while Oshannus contributes with 2 magic attack.

I decided to put Oshannus as the tank, as he has a greater chance to dodge potential attacks and has the Void Ability to increase his resistance against other magic attackers. This will prove us right in the battle ahead. Nerissa will be in second position and will unfortunately take the hits of poison and Earthquake each round. This means we are having around 3 rounds to end this battle.

Example Battle

With this being said, we need to talk about our enemy a bit as well. They chose to go and protect themselves against the Earthquake by selecting the Dragon summoner which allows every card to fly. This is a clever move as we will need to deal some great amount of damage to compensate this. Furthermore, he chose Djinn Chwala as tank which would deal some extra damage due to Thorns, but because we are just attacking with magic attacks, this will be useless for our opponent.

It becomes quickly clear that Poison is the bigger threat here and that we selected the correct antidote for this battle. After only a few rounds of battle, his monsters are quickly finished. We profit from the fact that he has fairly low health minions while we chose the bigger health ones. On top of that, we are getting the advantage of having one monster immune against poison as well as having magic attackers that are not influenced by armor.
