Hello everyone! I hope this is not too late for me to introduce myself as I have already done my first post. Please bear with me, haha!
I am a Filipino, 57 years old and a mother of 3 sons and 1 daughter, ages between 28 and 21 years old.
Location: We live in a calm and no-so-busy street in the district of La Paz, in Iloilo City.
Our place is always known for good food, particularly, "Batchoy", basically, a soup with noodles and topped with meat and "chicharon" (pork skin cracklings) originated from the wet market of La Paz district,and historic houses and churches.
Iloilo City's annual celebration of a festival called Dinagyang, I believe, is known in and out of the country. It is a merry making festival in honor of the Patron St. Sto. Nino, the child Jesus, whose first image was brought to the Ilonggo forefathers by the Spanish conquestadors. That was the start of Christianity and the Catholic Religion in the region. For me, Ilonggos are sweet and caring people, full of hospitality and warmth to tourists and guests.
We Ilonggos are resilient and can always survive in times of calamities. We cook good food and we eat hearty meals hahaha.
Life Outside: I had my early education at a public school - Rizal Elementary School, in Tanza Street, Iloilo City, where teachers were strict but caring. My high school was spent at Colegio de las Hijas de Jesus, in Ledesma Street, Iloilo City.
In this school, I found my religiosity.
I discovered the essence of my religion.
Also, this is where my love of reading and writing manifested. I had a daily journal back then and I read tons of novels. I proceeded to the University of the Philippines, Visayas for my college wherein I graduated B. S. in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting. I was hired as a Teller at Far East Bank and Trust Company Iloilo Main Branch(now, Bank of the Philippine Islands) at the age of 21 years old, that is, right after college graduation. The rest is history. I opted for an early retirement at the age of 53 last 2018, after 32 years of excellent service and a meaningful experience at my beloved workplace.
Life Inside: I am just a simple person who makes sure to enjoy life to the fullest while making things easy for the people I love and constantly extending kindness to those who I encounter along my way.
I got married at the age of 28 to my husband who was 38 years old at that time. We lived a simple, easy going life with our four children who are now taller than me and much wiser haha! Now that I am a full time stay at home mom, I enjoy being Chef to my children. I cook whatever they would request my to prepare.
Also, just for pastime, I prepare food in a box and deliver them for those who ordered. Usually, I prepare different kinds of pasta dishes. It's a lot of fun and income generating as well. I also accept orders for food trays, usually dishes for special occasions.
After staying in the kitchen, my relaxing time comes in front of Netflix, my social media and internet browsing, not necessarily in that order.
My third son introduced me in this blogging site and this has caught my interest so far.
I hope to make plenty of friends here and I look forward to reading with a lump on my throat, a touch in my heart and a smile on my face! 😄
