It feels like crypto is getting closer to the masses. I'm seeing a lot of videos posted in Tiktok about cryptocurrency. It's not the best place to educate people about crypto but it's the one closest to the masses; especially the younger generations.
Seeing more people talk about crypto is good however, I'm worried that the message that is being shared on this platform doesn't really explain the very essence of this technology.
The vibe that I'm getting from many videos that I saw is that it's a quick money scheme aspect of crypto. Many of the content is only talking about how they get 10x or even 100x on their investment. What I think is that the viewers in Tiktok have a short attention span and the content creators know about it. As a result, the creators are focusing on the hype aspect of crypto and not on the fundamentals of it.
I have not seen a video that explains what exactly is crypto and why it was invented in the first place.

Maybe I'm not following the good crypto peeps in Tiktok? The truth is I'm not following any known crypto expert on this platform. For me, this platform is just my way to kill some time and to have some laughs. It's totally for entertainment. That's why I'm very surprised when I saw the first video that talks about crypto by accident?
And then I got interested in the short video which made me watch the whole thing. A few moments later, Tiktok is showing more videos on my feed about crypto and now it's becoming even more frequent.
Earlier, I mentioned that many of the videos are overly hyping crypto. It is something that I don't want to happen in a platform where the majority of the users are not versed in crypto. Most of them are hearing about it for the first time.
The concern is that there will be the kind of people who will take the "quick money gain" literally and invest with the hope that they will get rich instantly.
