Do you like participating to contests on Steemit? What's your favorite one, have you won any of them?

My early days in Steemit (as a lowly plankton) is mostly spent on contest participations, from photography, writing, graphic arts, sketching, and even commenting contests. Those were the challenging days of steemit when DApps are very few.

Back then (a year ago), visibility is quite a challenge and so the earnings on posts. There were few curators, or maybe there are a bunch of them but there's just too many contents that curation is not well distributed.

Contests are my "saving grace".

As mentioned, I have joined in numerous contests, they are all good but there are few that fits best for me. These are:

1. My Picture Day by @timsaid

Since most of my contents is photography, and so many many others in Steemit, it is really difficult to attract curators that will appreciate my work. There are so many Pros out there and I'm just a hobbyist.

Timsaid's photography contest appreciates good picture that is coupled with interesting story.

Even though my photos is not on a top notch level, through my stories I was able to win quite a few good rewards. I enjoyed the whole experience in creating my contents for the his contest and engaging with other participants as well.

2. State of the Sndbox by @sndbox

Among all other contests, this is the one that really push my boundary when it comes to creativity. It really challenge my artistic capability.

First, I'm not a graphic artist to begin with. So this was a new territory to explore, at least for me.

And again, what I like about this contest is that @sndbox value the idea more than the graphical prowess that you can show to your entry. Although my work requires more fine tuning and graphical corrections, I'm still able to win substantial rewards through it.

And I was also connected to other graphic artists along the way.

So, for me contests are one of the reasons that I stayed in Steemit, especially at the time when curation is hardly given to anyone. My participation to the contests had helped me get the traction that I needed in this platform. I was thankful for it and that is why I have put-up a contest of my own and still currently running for past 8 months. It will be my way to help my fellows in this platform :)
