Sis why don't you pick up your calls, this is the third time I heard it ring. I had observed her for close to ten minutes and all she did was hiss on the incoming calls.
"hmmm don't mind him I do not want to talk to him ever again"
And who is he? The assistant devil himself? I cut in before she could say any more words. Because judging from her facial expressions I could tell who that was.
"Yes, it is Lee, so just go ahead and say it"
Go ahead and say what?
"Just say it, say that I told you many times that Lee is not worth your time but you were blinded by love, say it"
It is of no use for me to repeat that, but I have someone else who can tell you something better in such a way you will get his message and do the right thing.

But before that, what has Lee done this time, cheat, lie, or manipulate you?

I brought forward my phone and scanned through my playlist, and there it was, a perfect song I had in mind for her. She needed to hear some bitter truth but this time not from me, I had tried in the past and failed, so this time from someone on neutral ground. Someone who can pass the message in a very subtle way.
I sat down beside her, put the song on play, and plugged in my earpiece, gave her one side of the earpiece to put it in her ear while I plugged the other one on mine.
I told her to listen to the song, enjoy the beat and suck in the lyrics. If she feels like crying, she shouldn't hold it back, she should just let it all out.
I played The Devil doesn'tBargainn a song I found sometime earlier, I appreciate the song though the message wasn't for me that moment but I knew it could help my cousin sister who has been in a toxic relationship to see the light and take the right decision.
We just sat there silently, while we listened.
Before the last part of the song was played, tears started rolling down her cheeks, as she said thank you! I got the message very loud and clear and I'm promising you now with everything dear to my heart that I will do the needful.
I will no longer be with a partner who does nothing but lie to my bare face at every given opportunity. I'm letting go of him, for all he did in the last six months was hurt me and pretend to be the victim. I'm letting him go not because I no longer love him but because I'm choosing my mental health, and because I deserve better, I'm moving on. Because now it is very clear that trying to change him is simply a waste of my time.
I just let her lean on my shoulder without altering a word, but just listened and gave her a tight hug afterward.
After that day she broke up with Lee, and this time it was final.
She began to heal, and a year later, she found love again and until today, they are still growing stronger in love.
There could be a time when some of us find out that certain things or people are not right for us, but instead of choosing to let go, and move on, we find ourselves clinching on and trying to change such people. Forgetting that the only people who can change are those who are willing to change.
Sometimes we get hurt in the process. A while back, one of my closest cousins was in such a situation and it took me a lot of effort to see to it that she did what was best for her in the end.
