Anthem News, Rumors, Trailers, and Announcements
If you're interested in following the story of Anthem from initial rumors to its upcoming launch, we've compiled all the news, rumors, trailers, gameplay footage, and announcements below, in mostly chronological order.
BioWare Teases a New IP
BioWare first started to tease Anthem in 2014, as a “completely new IP” developed by its team in Edmonton. While BioWare was vague on the details, a developer diary from Electronic Arts’ E3 2014 press conference detailed the team’s commitment to creating a living “constantly changing” world – one where they didn’t need to tell a “singular story,” but instead invite players to participate in “what the world is doing right now.”
In 2016, BioWare’s then senior director of creative development Alistair McNally claimed to have worn a t-shirt around the Game Developers Conference bearing the name of the studio’s new IP. It’s unclear whether photos of this ever actually emerged, but it certainly kept interest piqued, spawning a whole thread on the BioWare forums dedicated to tracking down evidence.
