Hello dear readers!

Artificial intelligence is a technology that is constantly developing and evolving, some affirm that AI in the future can replace humans in some basic tasks, leading to improved performance since the risk of "human error" would be eliminated, due to the tiredness, lack of coordination or memory.

If we take into account that artificial intelligence is based on human intelligence, and that machines only learn what they are taught, it is possible that this type of technology adopt some type of biased attitude such as machismo or racism, this is what some reports claim.

Affirmations.

A few weeks ago at an event held in Barcelona, Spain, Liliana Arroyo, a sociologist said:

"Artificial intelligence has come to discriminate, and has a bias that affects the most vulnerable groups"

He gave Amazon as an example that for 2015, the sales giant had problems with a personnel selection process in which technology and artificial intelligence were used for the selection of candidates. Due to an ‘defect’ in the algorithm, priority was given to men.

There are other "racist" examples that we must look at carefully so that all of this can be corrected, such as soap dispensers that do not give soap to black people.

The examples continue and is that according to this publication, a study by the Georgia Institute of Technology revealed that self-driving cars can better detect fair-skinned people .

"Researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology found that state-of-the-art detection systems, such as the sensors and cameras used in self-driving cars, are better at detecting people with lighter skin tones."

"That makes them less likely to spot black people and to stop before crashing into them, the authors note"

Another example is in the technology used by the London Metropolitan Police for facial recognition used in their surveillance cameras, and that some researchers have found to discriminate against people who come from underdeveloped countries.

Here the publication consulted.

Conclusions.

Controversial data that certainly deserve to be reviewed to make the necessary adjustments in the future.

So we can say that there is indeed a bias in the algorithms used by certain devices based on artificial intelligence, which are developing our worst discriminatory attitudes towards some groups in particular, something to which we must pay attention, although for some they are insignificant data they can really have its impact on the future.
