Hi Hivers. How are you?
I think this is my first post to @naturalmedicine community. I look forward to checking out the posts here as well as to posting more often.
I’m sharing with you a photo of pomegranates I took by a fruit shop.
Growing up, I had two pomegranate trees in my front yard. I didn’t like the fruit because it had too many seeds and it was such a hassle to get them. I would chew on the seeds a bit and then spit them out. At the time, it had what seemed to be a stainy or tart taste. I couldn’t even tell when the fruit was ready to be picked. I relied on my siblings to tell me which ones were “ready”.
Fast forward, many years later...
I’ve somehow fallen in love with the fruit. I don’t often see it at my supermarket but sometimes see it at Costco and at a particular fruit shop. I decided to try it because it reminded me of my childhood and I had a different type in my front yard.
Somehow it now seems more juicy and I no longer have a problem with the seeds. It’s also much sweeter than I can remember. Was I having the “wrong” one?
I read up on it a bit and realized that pomegranates are packed with nutrients and can help to fight off or prevent certain diseases. It’s been referred to as a cancer-fighting fruit. The nutrients include vitamin C, vitamin K, potassium and protein. It’s also a good source of fiber and is the listed as one of the “top” fruits.
It’s my new love.
Don’t mind the seeds....
