Hola, comunidad.

Hello, community. Today I'm stepping away from crafts a bit to tell you a very nice (and a little crazy) story that happened to me almost two months ago. There is a cat that has been frequenting my house for many years. She's a stray cat that only came to eat, so I didn't pay much attention to her. Whenever she was pregnant, she never brought her kittens to the house; I really don't know where she had them.

The big surprise

One day, overnight (literally), I went to sleep and there were no cats here. The mother cat wasn't here, there was nothing, and I never imagined she was about to give birth. When I woke up very early in the morning, I started hearing "meow, meow, meow". I said, "What is this?". I went out and, when I looked, there were four tiny little kittens. They weren't newly born, they were already a few days old because they were clean, a little fuzzy and everything.

How did they get here?

I was about to go into shock. I was surprised and said, "How did this cat bring four kittens here to the house?". I live in an area where there are many two-story houses and the roof is high. In my mind, I thought the cat brought the kittens one by one, left one here, went to get the other, left it... I can't explain it any other way. A little later I see her arrive and start nursing them.

I said, "Well, whatever, I'm not going to throw them out on the street, I don't have such a bad heart for that". And well, since that day they are here.

The feeding challenge

It has been nice and at the same time a process, because I'm not used to having cats and at first I didn't know what to give them or how to do it. I'm not in a bad economic situation, but I'm not in such a good one either, and I said, "How am I going to feed four cats?".

From that day I started buying sardines and making rice. But I realized I wasn't feeding them well, because they would eat and a little later they were hungry and meowing for the mother cat to nurse them (sometimes she leaves for hours). So I made the decision to start buying them cat food. Since the day I've been giving them that, they are much calmer when it comes to hunger.

A mí no me quieren jaja.

The spoiled ones of the house

They've been here for almost two months and they don't even go outside yet, nor do they try to climb or anything. They are super domesticated. With my two kids, they grab them, hug them, get on the bed, hold them like a baby, and those cats are happy, they don't get restless or scratch. Sometimes my youngest daughter grabs them and puts them on her legs to sleep like a baby, and they fall fast asleep.

They don't love me haha. Every time I get close to give them affection, they don't want me. Since I'm the one who scolds them, the one who says "get down", "outside" or "don't do that", I'm the one who sets the rules, they don't love me. My kids are the ones who spoil them and I'm the one who sets the rules.

Chimuelo, Pepita and the little one

Two kittens already have names: one is called Chimuelo and the other is called Pepita. Pepita is the most spoiled because since she arrived we saw she was beautiful. The others are also given affection.

There is one that is very small that really has me a little worried. I said that if he doesn't grow in a certain time, I'm going to take him to the vet because I don't know if he's okay or not. It's normal that he hasn't grown much, since I've never had cats (I repeat), I don't know what's okay and what's not. I already dewormed them and they are eating better. The mother cat hasn't stopped nursing them, but I imagine she's in the process, because I started reading and researching and they say that at approximately 12 weeks they start to wean them.

Living together and the mother cat

The mother cat has tried to teach them to climb so they learn to get on the roof, but for them it's impossible because it's quite high. She already does it because she's used to it, she's a cat that has always been on the street and maybe she adapted to doing those things. They haven't yet.

Where I live there is a food stand nearby and sometimes there are cockroaches or rats, it's not very hygienic. That's why, when they started getting into the room, I let them. They sleep in the lower part of where I put my clean sheets. As long as they are there in the room, it's fine.

I realized that they don't purr. When I asked, they say it's normal for them to learn it from their mom, and indeed, she doesn't purr at all. I imagine it's something she didn't pass on to the kittens and that's why they aren't learning it.

The hypocrites

It has really been very nice to have them. It makes me laugh a lot because they don't want me to give them affection, but as soon as I arrive with a bag of cat food and open it, they start chasing me! And sometimes I say, "You guys are such hypocrites, for that you do love me, right?".

Well, later on I'll tell you another little thing that happens with them. Thanks for reading this story!
