If you are just starting out as an entrepreneur or you want to become one, there are a lot of things you would be told to know. You can't know everything before you start out. Waiting for all the knowledge before you take a step is equal to not even taking any step. Until you make an attempt to start something, all the knowledge is useless. There are a lot of things you should know as an upcoming or existing entrepreneur and I want to share with you some of the important ones.

1. Focus

An entrepreneur sees problems and solves them. It's probably likely you've seen a few things and you are probably good at more than a few things but to succeed, you have to concentrate on 1 and focus on making it a priority. It's true that you don't know where you gonna make it, so can't put all your eggs in one basket, but then, as a startup, you can't avoid to divide your attention. After you make it on that, you can use your experience on other businesses but until then, you need all your focus on something specific.

2. Value

Your worth is based on your value. Whatever it is that you want to do, it's likely already exist. What valuable thing are you offering to potential customers. You have to find a way to know what customers want, even when they don't know and offer it to them. That's the only way you can get people coming to you always over everyone else. Your success depends on your ability to always offer you clients things of value. If they don't value what you are offering, it could be the best thing in life but you will still have nobody purchasing.

3. Product Development

Arguably, apple don't do the best products in the world. What I can confidently say they have, is one of the best brands in the world. More than half of selfies taken in-front of a mirror are with an iPhone and they hold the phone so you will see the logo. What ever you are offering, you should be able to market it in a way that everyone wants to have a portion. Those who can afford should want to have it, and those who can't should feel they are missing out. Once you can do that, people will find ways to get your product or services.

4. Team building

As an upcoming entrepreneur, you can't do it all alone. You need help to get your business going, and you can't afford to hire professionals to help you out. What do you do then. Get people who are talented and have the right attitude and build them up to believe in your dream. Choose people who are loyal to your course over people with all the skills and mould them into what you or your business needs. With the right attitude and motivation, you can get the best out of them.

5. Capacity

In today's world, you can't be an entrepreneur without any financial or administrative skills. Whiles you build your team, you also need to empower yourself and develop your skills to know more about every aspect of your business. You have to know about budgeting, you have to know about sales and proper governance structure. You have to build yourself as an entrepreneur and not leave everything for those you've but in charge. If you don't know about that aspect of the business, you have to learn on your own.

6. Financial Performance

Research on ways to make measure how your business is performing financially. Find out how you are doing in terms of client growth, budgets, finances and structures. You should know where you are falling short and where you need some reinforcement. Without metrics, you can't access and grow your business because you don't know how your business is faring.

7. Business Partnerships

A 10% of a million dollar business is worth more than a 100% in a $100,000 business. Your business is as good as your business partnerships. You have to seek counsel and partner with trustworthy individuals or companies who can take your business to the next level. After your feet are well on the ground, you can decide to own all of your business shares but until then you have to look for the best deals that can push your business forward.

8. Hiring

As mentioned earlier, you can't afford to hire the best people as a start up business, so look for people you can work with. Look for people who believe in your dream because as a new business, it can get pretty though along the way. You are likely to lose people along the way and if they are with you only for what they can gain, then you will probably loose them all.

2019 is still young and if it's been your dream to start something, then this is the time.
