Memories are pieces of experiences and events that stay with us, they could be good ones, the ones that when we remember make us so happy and leave us feeling giddy, while there could be the ones that could leave us with a sense of dread or regret.
There are some memories that I have that whenever I think about them, I can't help but smile, but I'll be talking about the one that stands out.
We all have that one fond memory, that brings a smile to our face each time we remember it or at odd times. It may be of a person, an event or an occurrence in our lives. Tell us about it and why this memory is important to you.
I can remember during a certain holiday when I and my siblings had to go to my aunt's house to spend the holiday. Going to spend the holiday at my aunt's house was always a delight, it meant we were going to have playmates because my cousins would be around, and it meant there will be birthday parties to attend, adventures to have and so many more.
This particular holiday, my aunt promised to take us to the amusement park, that we were going to have loads of fun, I and my siblings were so excited, as that was our first time of visiting the park
One thing about expecting an outing is that you keep using your mind's eyes to imagine the whole experience even before it happens, and it leaves you all pumped up.
I had already imagined how I was going to ride the Ferris wheel, as it was going to be my first time of riding it, I had always wanted to ride on one, and I couldn't wait, I was literally doing a countdown.
The D-day came and I was the first to wake up, I had my bath and got ready. By the time everyone was ready, I was already waiting by the car.
Before we left the house, my aunt instructed us to have as much fun as we could but emphasized on the need to make sure we didn't wander so far away from the park.
I got the money I needed to get my tickets for the Ferris wheel, I was so eager, you could literally see the sheen in my eyes.
By the time we were strapped, the wheels began moving and gradually going up, as at the moment we left the ground, I began screaming and shouting my lungs out that I wanted to get off, people around me kept reassuring me that I wouldn't fall off, some children were even laughing at me, but I didn't listen to them all I wanted was to get down as soon as possible.
By the time we got down, I was all red, my aunt had to pacify me to calm me down.
Upon getting home my siblings and cousins kept teasing and laughing at how pumped I was to go to the park only to become a scaredy cat at the end.
Whenever I think about it, I always laugh at myself, because it was so funny.
This is my response to the #Hivenaija prompt.
