Although the online dependence due to the lack of epidemiological and neurobiological research in medical books has not been isolated as a separate diagnosis, an increasing number of people, especially younger ages, spend more and more time with the computer, ignoring their everyday obligations, interests, even personal needs. Are they addicts? In the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders, the following criteria have been proposed to establish a diagnosis of online games addiction, the symptoms of which may be equivalent and dependence on the Internet. Repeated use of the Internet to participate in games that leads to clinically significant damage or suffering is indicated by the following items:
1 Playing online does not become the dominant activity in everyday life.
2 Symptoms of stopping when Internet play is aborted (irritability, anxiety, or sorrow).
3 The need to spend more and more time playing games online.
4 Unsuccessful attempts to control participation in games.
5 Loss of interest in earlier hobbies and entertainment.
6 Setting up the game on the Internet despite the knowledge of the existence of psychosocial problems.
7 Lying to family members or therapists regarding the scale of online gameplay.
8 Using the Internet to avoid or reduce the negative mood, endangering or losing an important link, job, or educational opportunity for playing online.
