LORE
GEM METEORS were once a lifeless objects floating in the sky along with other stars which were also created when the cosmos was born. While some of these stars were destroyed, either by striking other object or simply their light dying away after centuries since their creation, the GEM METEORS continues to lit up the night forevermore, tracing lines in the blackness as they shot through the vast and endless skies.
The astronomers studied this phenomenon and attributed this trailing light from the dust that gathers upon the meteors. These crystals/meteors sometimes fell on the land where it starts to gain value as people starts to get a hold of them. Uul became angry when it noticed that mortals were greatly benefitting from the riches that was thrown from heavens. Due to his anger, he breathe life in the meteors and thus, GEM METEORS were created and born into existence. Once, these meteors travels aimlessly, but now that they were given life they soar through the sky and flings crystal shards from their body at anyone unfortunate enough to get in its way. The shards/crystalline missiles splinter and cracks upon impact, ricochets and inflicts damage.
STATS
The GEM METEOR is an Epic Neutral Monster with 6 levels. It’s got tremendous speed even in its base level at 4units. It has 5HP which can sustain it being in a long battle since it had its speed to assist it, causing enemy attacks with lower speed to miss.
This monster has the Scattershot ability which can hit a random enemy target. This ability disregards whether the opposing enemy has the monster with Taunt ability in their line-up. It will target any enemy mostly the one in the middle. If the Scattershot ability is used in conjunction with Explosive Weaponry ruleset, it is sure to cause damage since 3enemies will incur damage at the same time. At level 5, it gains additional ability Piercing which is highly effective against enemies with armor. Piercing ability will reduce the target’s health when the attacked received by the target exceeds their armor.
RULESET
Explosive Weaponry:All Monsters have the Blast ability
Counterspell:All Monsters have the Magic Reflect abilty
LINE-UP
SUMMONER: THADDIUS BROOD
I chose this summoner to take advantage of one ruleset in effect, the Explosive Weaponry. I can greatly gain advantage from my enemy when at the start of the battle I can reduce all the enemy monsters health, add that to the damage that will be incurred by monsters to the enemy’s monsters. Since I’m quite sure the enemy will use less magic monsters or none at all due to the ruleset, Counterspell, I only focused on the -1 health my summoner will take from the enemy.
CURSED WINDEKU
It is one of my most used monster in the Death Splinter since it has high health despite it costing only 6mama. It’s got decent speed and attack power too. Add those to its Thorns ability causing damage to any melee attacker that targets it, I can say it’s one of the perfect monster to be placed in the 1st Position. It’s like hitting two birds with one stone when this monster is up front. It can attack the enemy when it gets its turn, and still attack the enemy even when it’s the enemy’s turn provided the one attacking it is a melee attack monster
SILENT SHA-VI
I chose this monster and placed in 2nd Position since im opting to use speedy monsters as my main attackers, taking advantage of Explosive Weaponry ruleset. Speedy monsters are most useful when this ruleset is in effect since they get to attack enemies first. it’s also got decent attack power too. Since I am given low mana, I’m utilizing monsters with low mana cost and a decent attack power and this monsters perfectly fits the purpose, hence, I placed it in 2nd position. It’s got the 2nd highest mana from those I want to put in my line-up so this being in the 2nd Position can take the brunt of enemy attacks with many health to spare at the end of the enemy’s turn.
URAEUS
I used this monster to supplement the attacking power of my 2nd Position monster from the enemy’s back line-up. I planned to attack the enemy in all fronts to effectively defeat it. Although this monster has low attack power, it will serve its purpose of attacking the back-end monster adding injury to enemy from the attacks of my SILENT SHA-VI. It also had armor too which can effectively reduce the damage taken from any with high attack power monster since his armor will take the damage first rendering the high attack power useless.
GEM METEOR
I chose and included this monster in my line-up mainly because of its speed and Scattershot ability. Its ability will enable it to target any random monster. Based on experience, monsters with this ability mostly targets enemies placed in the middle. So using it in conjunction with the ruleset in effect will make damage 3 enemy monsters at once. It also got great speed among my low mana cost monsters so choosing and using it in the line-up is a no-brainer.
DHAMPIR STALKER
This is also one of my most used monster in Death Splinter since it’s got decent attack power and a great ability. Its ability True Strike will hit any monster it targeted, speedy or not, incurring 3damages from its armor or health. Blind ability also cannot affect this monster so using it in a line-up ensures me that I can always cause some major damages to the enemy. I placed this in the 5th Position because I thought that enemy might use sneak attackers. So placing it there will make it survive longer since I have one more monster acting as shield from attacks. The longer this monster stays in the battle, the greater the damages it will bring to the enemy.
XENITH ARCHER
With little mana to spare, I chose this monster and placed it in the Last Position. It’s got no added ability aside from the one that the ruleset grants it at the start of the game. Its also got low speed and attack power at its base level. Its purpose for this battle is only to act as a shield from sneak attackers to my 5th Position monster. I will be glad if its attack hit the enemy at least once since it can still damage 2 enemy monster if its attack hits.
THE BATTLE
This battle is taken from the scholarship account that I’m currently handling.
The battle lasted only 1round since my opponent used low health monsters. The choice to usedTHADDIUS BROOD as my summoner seems to have greatly helped me in attaining victory early. Some of the monsters the opponents used had only 2HP. At the start of the game, my summoner’s ability took effect taking one health from all the enemy monsters, leaving the 2HP monster with only one to carry them for the whole round.
The first to attack was my GEM METEOR, targeting the opponent’s 3rd Position monster. As expected, the Scattershot ability targeted the middle position of the enemy line-up. This attack immediately caused damages to three of opponent’s monsters effectively killing two in the process, the 2nd and 4th Position monsters since they only got 1HP left after THADDIUS BROOD’s ability took effect.
The next to attack was my SILENT SHA-VI. It’s attack also immediately finished off the opponent’s backline monster since it also got low HP. The remaining opponent’s monsters are running low on HP since I’m the first to attack and my monsters greatly overpowers the opponent’s.
Following the attack of my SILENT SHA-VI, DHAMPIR STALKER then attacked the enemy’s 1st Position monster also killing off the remaining monster except opponent’s CURSED WINDEKU.
The fourth one to attack was my 1st Position monster further reducing what little health had remained of the opponents last monster.
Since the turn to attack was based on speed, all my speedy monsters were the first to attack. After their turn, the enemy was left with only monster which is surely not enough to carry the opponent through the next round. The opponent got only one turn to attack before my URAEUS dealt the final and killing blow. URAEUS may have low attack power but one attack from him is all that’s needed to attain victory since my monsters have caused great damaged to the opponent’s, killing most in the process.
My 6th Position monster didn’t even got to attack the enemy since it was all over before its turn to attack came.
Given the small amount of mana that can be spent for the battle, I can say I have used and spent it well since the battle is won in such a short amount of time. I wouldn't change any monster in that line up since they were put there for a purpose and I think they have served their purpose well. Although XENITH ARCHER didn't do well, I chose it mainly to act as shield. Still I would still use it there if the same ruleset applies.
