Juan no respondió.
Report
"Excuse me sir, where is that institution where you go and report?" Asked the girl, young, somewhat gnawed clothes, long hair and dark circles that reflected a not very pleasant life.
Juan stared and a thousand images came to his mind: rape, mistreatment, abuse and endless speculation that did not allow him to respond immediately.
"You refer to the Public Ministry, that is in the next block. If you wish, I will accompany you, I will go near that building," Juan replied, with a tone of satisfaction.
The girl thanking the gesture accepted. They were walking and Juan tried to talk. He spoke about the country situation, then about how we can do it, and lastly and deliberately, he referred to the value of women within society.
They talked in a very pleasant way, the girl demonstrated dominance and externalized well-argued opinions, until there was a pause. For a few moments there were no words and Juan mentally prepared himself to listen to the hell that this girl had lived through.
"You know, what hurts the most from what we have talked about is that many times we play blind and become indolent before someone else's ordeal."
Juan did not reply. He thought about the accuracy of the comment and how he, too, fell into that group. They walked without saying anything. Until Juan stopped and pointed to a tall building with large windows, he said: "that's the Prosecutor's Office building, I'll accompany you here because I'm going straight to the university."
The young woman replied: "give me a moment, please, to ask the address well, because the work I am going to is close to this place."
