Hello @Hiveio community and dear brothers of @Catarsis, I was very sick this past week but I'm back. This post is written in Spanish and translated to English for the convenience of all readers.
I had been a little absent and without publishing because I was sick with a malaise that never leaves me and now I am going to explain what malaise I am talking about because I want to share this experience with you to unburden myself.
Since I can remember I have suffered from respiratory problems and these have always accompanied me, the simple fact of catching a seasonal flu makes me worry because I know that something much worse is on the way and one of those problems and which is the one that made me decline quite a lot of health a week ago is the well-known tonsillitis, something that has always affected me and I do not remember why I never had tonsil surgery.
This past week I felt really bad and it all started with a sore throat one morning when I woke up, that day dawned raining so I just got out of bed to carry out some household chores and after finishing with my housework I was ready to lie down again to take a nap and then I woke up with a temperature of 39° and feeling very bad with even more pain in my throat and as I have experience in this tonsillitis I kept calm and proceeded to do what we do most of the time, I woke up with a temperature of 39° and feeling very bad with even more pain in my throat and as I already have experience in this tonsillitis thing I kept calm and proceeded to do what most Venezuelans do because of the situation in the country; auntomedicarme taking medicines to help me lower the fever, while painkillers to help reduce inflammation and sore throat. I also proceeded to take a bath with hot water, which is very good for lowering the fever, while it was getting dark.
I didn't want to have dinner since my tonsils are swollen and it is very difficult to swallow and it hurts a lot, but I did make myself a chamomile tea, which was what I had on hand to drink something hot to help me sleep.
The next day my main concern was to drink water, lots of water to the point that I drank 3 liters of water at room temperature to help the recovery to be faster and less traumatic since a chronic tonsillitis can cause many more complications to an asthmatic person as I am and I also have sequels left from the covid 19 such as an incessant cough and breathing difficulties, that is, everything but really everything wrong.
My mother who lives with me was obviously very worried about me and out of the same desperation caused by the concern she advised me to take antibiotics which should not be done, antibiotics fight bacteria but to begin with although tonsillitis can sometimes be caused by bacteria, usually the cause is a respiratory virus and antibiotics should not be taken lightly, they certainly need medical supervision because we could contribute to the evolution of super bacteria resistant to all types of antibiotics.
For those who do not know tonsillitis is caused by an inflammation of the tonsils that can be triggered by a virus or bacteria and therefore this virus or bacteria can be spread by airborne or saliva in my case I know how I get it because just a few days before I had contact with a person who had the symptoms of tonsillitis.
If it is bacterial it can be treated with the use of antibiotics prescribed by a doctor after doing a culture with the disease and if it is viral it will pass after several days so you only have to treat the symptoms until it passes, these symptoms can be: fever, pain when speaking and swallowing, breathing difficulties, cough and production of mucus.
These were the symptoms I suffered during the days I was sick and there were two days in particular in which I felt very bad because of the fever and the difficulty in breathing and swallowing. My throat was very sore to the point that I could no longer eat solids and at night it was much worse and I had a hard time breathing and what I did to try not to worry my mother was to stay calm and breathe very slowly until the painkillers took effect.
