He couldn't take the shot,
he couldn't score the goal,
dazzling to deceive,
his potential is gone.
She couldn't make the save,
spilling the ball again,
its bulging the net,
victory escapes again.
Today this team is done,
all hopes forlorn and gone,
supporters flailing and dismayed
no matter how hard they prayed.
But alas the pundits lie,
'cos in a moments flash,
hope ignites alive!
The striker has scored,
our keeper saves, and this team
carries the day.
So once again, the pundits lie!
