[ESP/ENG] Mi experiencia siendo estudiante universitario y trabajando el otro resto del tiempo / My experience as a university student and working the rest of the time

ENGLISH
I am a 6th-semester Veterinary Medicine student in Venezuela.
I started in 2023, I’ve been studying this major for 3 years now, and I’m halfway through. Honestly, at first, everything was rose-colored: a beautiful major, fun and easy subjects. As time went on, everything started to get more complicated.
Curiously enough, on the first day of class, they used to ask: "Why did you choose to study this?" Everyone answered the same thing: "Because I like animals."
Today, the answer is different. Yes, I like animals, but I'm not keeping at it just because I like them; I stay because I want to make a difference. I want to be someone who does her job well, without stealing, without lying, and without taking advantage of others. To make a difference.
It's not easy. I'm in my 6th semester when I should be in my 7th, and I'm only taking 3 subjects when I should be taking 6. But not everything has to be fast; I have other responsibilities, and that's why I can't take them all.
It's okay if I can't move on to the 7th semester yet. It's okay if I don't graduate with the friends I started with.
I don't have the latest model phone, I don't have the best clothes, and I don't have 10 pairs of shoes. I don't have a car to get to university; I take public transportation an hour earlier to arrive on time. I dropped some subjects because I was leaving very late and getting home at 9:00 p.m., and public transport has been tough lately.
But I know that my effort will pay off.
For a moment, I even felt like I was falling behind in my love life when my cousin—who is a year younger than me—got married, while my own romantic experience is pretty much non-existent (hahaha).
Our paths are different, and I'm not competing with anyone. Studying, working, and in my case, serving at church are things I enjoy. I've managed to balance everything because this famous idea of "productivity" is destroying us—we can't clone ourselves to be everywhere. Everything has its time, as the Bible says.
To study, I need money; to have money, I need to work. And serving God is greater than all of this combined.
If you are reading this and feeling bad because you aren't going at the same pace as others, or because they seem to achieve everything quickly while it takes you years and you haven't reached some things yet: don't worry, my friend, everything has its time and the reward for your hard work will come. I'm sure of it.
goodbyeeee! 🫂
